Upon arriving in other worlds, Talon, Annika, and Vincent encounter various Disney characters, new and old, fighting off hordes of Unversed along the way. Annika is dispatched by Eraqus to survey Talon and keep him from falling into darkness, as well as to bring Vincent back to the Land of Departure. Vin, meanwhile, is goaded into following Talon by Xandred's mysterious apprentice Veritas, against Eraqus's wishes. Talon is sent to destroy the Unversed and find Master Xandred, who had earlier encouraged him to embrace the darkness in his heart if he desires the strength to become a Keyblade master.
In the second round Talon and Annika fight each other, but while Annika passes the test, Talon is deemed unfit to become a Keyblade Master due to the abundant darkness in his heart.Īfterward, a group of mysterious creatures called the Unversed begin to surface in other worlds, and another Keyblade Master, Xandred, disappears without a trace. Talon and Annika take this test together and in the first round Master Xandred sabotages the exam, forcing Vincent to intervene. To achieve this rank, Keyblade Apprentices must take the Mark of Mastery exam once they come of age. Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep begins in the Land of Departure, where three Keyblade wielders and close friends-Talon, Annika, and Vincent (more commonly known as Vin)-train to become Keyblade Masters under Master Eraqus.
